The dazzling entrepreneur Frank Asbeck, also known as the Sun King, founded Solarworld AG and floated it on the stock exchange in 1999. Solarworld started with the production of solar modules and solar cells at the Freiberg in Saxony and Arnstadt in Thuringia locations.

After initial highs, the company came under increasing pressure from Chinese competition and could no longer keep up with the dumping prices for solar modules. As early as 2013, the entire equity of the group was used up, and Solarworld was only able to save itself with a rigorous capital cut of 95 per cent.

In 2017 Solarworld then filed for bankruptcy, and all of the company’s assets were transferred to Solarworld Industries GmbH, which was founded in the same year. Only a year later, in March 2018, this also filed for bankruptcy. This ended both the production of solar cells in Arnstadt and the production of modules in Freiberg.

Solarworld Share Realtime Buy Arguments

Solarworld AG was a company in the solar energy industry and is insolvent. The share is now a penny stock with a price of around 0.1 euros. This means that you can get into the share with relatively little capital expenditure and that only slight positive movements in the share price of the Solarworld share can lead to decent profits.

At the beginning of April 2019, a payment was made from securities in the remaining bonds of Solarworld AG iL. This feeds the hope that there could be something left for the shareholders of Solarworld AG after the settlement. And in fact, the Solarworld AG share price has more than doubled since the beginning of April.

Sell Solarworld share? Sale arguments

Betting on stocks in companies that are in liquidation inherently involves enormous risks. A total loss of the investment capital is possible with every investment in shares. But when you invest in an insolvent company, this risk is many times higher.

Even after months of searching for an investor for the Freiberg plant, no investor could be found anywhere in the world due to the lack of economic prospects. So, the entire factory is now being auctioned off. However, prices that can be achieved are likely to be kept within limits, as the techniques used in the factories are probably already out of date.

Solarworld share news & history

Frank Asbeck, the former CEO of Solarworld AG, started trading photovoltaic modules in 1995. In 1998 he founded the company Solarworld which he went public 1 year later.

With the help of government subsidies, Solarworld subsequently achieved rapid growth. As of 2000, production started in Freiberg solar wafers. From 2003, production was fully automated. In 2004, Solarworld received the grand prize for medium-sized companies.

In 2005 the international expansion followed with sales branches in the USA and Europe, and in 2010, a fully automated module factory started in Hillsboro, USA. In the same year, a research and development centre was inaugurated in Freiberg.

In the course of the crisis in the entire solar industry, Solarworld slipped into the red from 2011 onwards. In addition to an increasingly tough price war, the cut in state EEG subsidies resulted in a significant drop in demand. As a result, in 2013, a capital cut of 95 per cent followed by a subsequent capital increase.

Nevertheless, Solarworld remained in the red and made a loss of 28 million euros in 2017. Finally, SolarWorld AG filed for insolvency in 2017 due to a lack of predictive prospects. The total assets were then transferred to SolarWorld Industries GmbH. However, this also filed for bankruptcy in 2018.

The production of solar modules in Freiberg ended on September 8, 2018. Unfortunately, the production of solar cells in Arnstadt had already come to an end. Even a month-long search for an investor for the Freiberg plant was unsuccessful due to a lack of economic prospects. That is why the entire remaining Solarworld systems have been under the hammer since March of this year.

Buy Solarworld stocks or not? Our future forecast 2021!

Solarworld share forecast 2021

The Solarworld AG group has no future prospects according to the assessment of the group management and also according to the evaluation of potential investors. There is still a global demand for the business model of manufacturing solar modules, but Chinese products largely dominate this. The Chinese government’s dumping prices made possible by subsidies cannot be seriously countered in high-wage countries like Germany.

A forecast for the performance of the Solarworld share cannot be given. The stock is now a pawn for gamblers. The risk is high that the share will have to accept major losses in value sooner or later.

The Solarworld share is an investment that only savvy gamblers who are not afraid of the risk of a total loss should dare to approach.

You can buy the Solarworld share from online brokers and here, preferably free of charge, from the test winner.
